Amphibious excavator WK 55 NG-A
The WK 55 NG-A, the larger version of the WK 20, is an amphibious excavator made for dredging and mowing work. Due to its compact size, the machine is ideal for narrow waterways. The undercarriage is adjustable in width from 2,25 meters to a maximum of 3,22 meters. This allows the machine to perform work in the narrowest positions. In addition, this 5,50-tonnes excavator has a track width of 87 centimeters. This ensures an extremely low ground pressure.
The WK 55 is easy to transport. Due to its weight and because the undercarriage is adjustable in width, the amphibious excavator can be transported in its entirety without disassembly. The height, width and length of the machines meet the transport standards, making them easy and relatively cheap to transport with a BE combination.
With a reach of 6,75 meters, the WK 55 can be used for waterways that are too shallow for a mowing/push boat or when it is not possible to work from the side. This makes the excavator ideal for working from the bank and in shallow waters up to 1.10 metres. Bulkheads (tracked excavator) are therefore no longer necessary. There is no chance of sinking and the machine completely floats. This allows it to easily cross a waterway. Thanks to its powerful travel motors, the amphibious excavator is able to drive in and out of the water independently.
Additional Dredging Equipment – Amphibious Excavator
The use of side pontoons is mandatory for work where the WK 55 excavator is fully floating. These are equipped with hydraulic spud poles, which are operated from the cabin, allowing a working depth of up to approximately 2,50 meters. It is also possible to use a middle pontoon between the tracks. This ensures that the amphibious excavator has more stability and can work even more efficiently on the water. In addition to the side and middle pontoons, the WK 55 can be equipped with many more options, including a mowing bucket, debris bucket and tipping bucket.
